OPENING LIGHT is inspired by the action of opening the curtains in the morning; when first a ray of light is visible which evolves, when pulling the curtains, in the illumination of the room.
Charlotte looked at connecting the action of opening things to turning on light, starting with following questions; how can an object evoke a clear action? And how can this action be shown in the light intensity generated by reflection?
Her main focus in this design is movement in the relation between light, the object and the user.
When pulling the light out, the user guides the reflection intensity that turns condensed light into a diffused room illumination.
Pulling light out to turn the lamp on. Going from a condensed lightning to a diffused room illumination.
the sculpted pulling stick allows different light stands (from condensed to diffused light). The more the stick is pulled out, the more condensed and wider the illumination is.
