Currently an Autobody Garage on the ground floor, with apartments above, KVA is in the process of re-developing the building to a large apartment on the ground floor with studio apartments on the upper floors. This will be done as a CPO (collective build) commissioning.
The showroom at the back will be demolished and rebuilt. The primary goal for the new building is to bring daylight into the space, as other buildings surround it, making it impossible to have typical windows. In order to solve this problem, two patios are subtracted from the volume. To maximize floor space a partial second story is proposed, allowing multiple bedrooms, a large kitchen, office and living space to be contained within the existing garage.
On the upper floors an extension is proposed making the currently L-shaped apartments rectangular. The back wall of each studio will have fully glazed sliding doors, allowing the studios to be filled with daylight, giving them a bright and open quality.
Both apartments will feature rooftop patios, and many environmentally friendly systems such as solar panels, water collection systems, improved insulation and triple glazed windows. The ambition is to obtain a BREEAM label.
