A thorough renovation of an apartment in Amsterdam was requested by the owners. This meant completely gutting the space and starting anew. The owners had a specific set of requirements. This included a live in kitchen and a bigger bathroom. By removing some interior walls and combining rooms a better layout was created, making the space feel bigger than it actually is.
Graphic wallpaper adds a striking statement to the room. An old dining table was painted black and had a brass plate glued to the top.
The owners wanted a live in kitchen where friends could gather. This was created by combining the old narrow kitchen with one of the bedrooms, thereby creating the perfect space for socialising whilst cooking.
Finishings were carefully chosen to add style and character to the spaces. Clever use was made of Ikea cabinets in the kitchen. Custom made doors were added and brass handles used to add some finesse.
By painting the upper cupboards in a lighter colour, the room still feels airy and uncluttered.
In the bathroom an Ikea dresser got a lick of paint and a marble top.
To create more space in the toilet, the basin was sunk in to the wall.
