Commission to design a shop interior and a museum cafe on a tight budget.

Museum Kranenburgh is a meeting place for art, culture and nature, situated on the border of artistic village Bergen, the forest, the dunes and the sea. The letter K is wraps around the room, an embracing shape to create togetherness in a space where extremities meet. This first space houses the Kunstuitleen and the Museum shop. White and yellow furniture were designed to display all products in the shop and yellow lines on the walls to be used for displaying paintings and books. The second space gives room for a museum cafe, with a grand view on the garden and a huge terrace. Due to the budget I decided to shape the space with paint. One wall with fluorescent orange-red pigment colors the entire room. A K shape covers the floor and parts of the walls. Fortunately, the financial donors made it possible to place fantastic light fixtures (Moooi and Vibia) in the entrance and the cafe and to acquire beautiful chairs for the auditorium and cafe.
