The villa was designed on a long and narrow site of about 15 by 60 meters. Instead of doing the obvious, a house in the middle of the site with a front and back garden, the architects proposed a total design concept for the house and the garden spaces. The full length of the site was used to compose a house like a sculpture with every interior space adjacent to an outdoor space such as patio’s, covered terraces or a garden. To express the idea of a house as a sculpture the entire villa was built in masonry using a beautiful handmade brick. In contrast with the introvert appearance of the villa, the facades around the patio’s and terraces are very transparent and open. Natural stained wood was used for the garage doors and the outside canopies. The spacious floor plan receives an abundance of daylight with views all around. A sculptural staircase along one of the fully glazed patio facades connects with the upper floor where a blue glazed sliding wall separates the kids play area from the hall. The complete interior, bath rooms, build in closets and lighting was designed in the spirit of the architectural design.
